Collagen Cream

One of the ways you can buy collagen is in the form of collagen cream.

Contrary to what you might think though, collagen creams do not actually contain collagen! This is because a molecule of collagen is too large to be absorbed through the skin. What they do contain is various ingredients which will help your body and skin generate it’s own collagen; usually a combination of peptide proteins.

You will usually see collagen cream marketed as anti-aging or anti-wrinkle creams. As discussed elsewhere on this site, collagen is the body’s natural product which does help the skin maintain it’s elasticity and ‘tightness’. Whether they do actually prevent the development of wrinkles is not scientifically proven, but they will reduce the appearance, or at best slow down the ageing process of your body and skin. Many people swear by the use of such creams and regularly apply them particularly at night, when it’s thought to be most effective.
